Mother's Finest - Mother's Finest (1976)

Commonly referred to as the band's debut album, this solid effort is actually their 2nd release which came years after another self-titled album released on RCA in 1972. The album was issued on Epic Records in 1976 and is the true launching point for the style Mother's Finest would pioneer throughout the decade. This powerful collection of tracks shows the band exploring uncharted territory, melding funk and hard rock in perfect measure. Though the album did not spawn any successful singles, it did establish Mother's Finest as a formidable force on the scene. It would be another year before the band would find chart success (albeit modest) with their follow up, "Another Mother Further".

Strangely, Epic has never chosen to reissue this album in the states, despite doing so for their 2nd and 3rd albums. Luckily, Epic did reissue the album in Europe many years ago and this quality rip is from that CD. Extremely difficult to find on CD, here it is in all of its soulful hard rock glory. Check it!

Nice!. I had until now only heard the most known 'Another Mother Further' album. This self titled one really rocks. It's got a great groove and a terrific drive. Funk/Rock with splendid musicians. Love it!.
