Halfnelson - Demos (1968)
Before they were Sparks, the Mael brothers and their musical collective were known as Halfnelson. In 1968, Halfnelson entered the studio on a shoestring budget and recorded 12 tracks for the purpose of shopping a demo to labels. Of those 12 songs, only one track was ever used for an official album. Sporting the characteristic Sparks sound mixed with a Syd Barrett influence, this demo sounds crisp and inventive. 25 Jahre habe ich danach gesucht! Dachte schon die Aufnahmen würde es gar nicht geben. Das klingt super...schade dass die SPARKS nicht damals schon eine Plattenfirma fanden!

Hallo! Actually; two songs were used: Roger and Saccharin and the War. The latter, however, was only about half it's length on this demo. Also-> thanks for sharing.

Wow... I'm a big fan of Sparks and Halfnelson (the first Album...) and didn't know anything about this demo-lp release... great surprise!!! many many thanks and my congratulations for this G R E A T blog...! really one of the most interesting on the internet!
