Thundermug - Orbit (1973)
I've posted most of Thundermug's recorded output here before, but not their 2nd LP, "Orbit". Prior downloads I've come across from other sources have sounded scratchy and muddy. Not this one, folks. I ripped this myself from clean vinyl and the sound is amazing. The album came in mid '73 and though it was critically acclaimed in Canada, it never made a dent elsewhere in the world. It's a shame, as this is arguably their most cohesive release.
Though the album is notably less experimental as their debut, it makes up for this change in direction by focusing on tighter arrangements and melodies. In fact, later that year Epic records issued a Thundermug compilation LP which contained all but three cuts from this release. Yes, it's that strong. If you are a Thundermug fan or just enjoy clever melodic power pop/hard rock, you will be more tha satisfied with "Orbit". I saw Thundermug at a high school dance way back around 1974 or so. One thing I remember is they were by far the loudest band I'd ever heard. Painfully loud, like solid waves of sonics hitting you in the chest. Looking forward to hearing them again, so thanks much for this.

Does anybody know the title of the B-side on Thundermug's 1974 Epic single #5-11126 "I Wanna Be With You" ???
Every copy I've seen of that single has the song on both sides. One mono, one stereo.
The music is very good, like the most of Canada groups of 70's.
For Wobby it says this in the Canadian Pop Encylopedia
1974 I Wanna Be With You/[same] (Epic - US) 5-11126
So maybe it is a different version of the same song

hello... hapi blogging... have a nice day! just visiting here....
thanks a lot
Thanks for posting this..we booked this band for our high school dance and like Anon said, they played loud! The teachers kept asking me to tell the band to turn it down, so between songs I would go onstage and ask them to turn it...up! Great sound, and super fine guys, we partied with them after...
Hey Boss, I gotta tell you ever since Megaupload got busted, getting music has become a total crap shoot. Just wanted to let you know about a link that brought me here. On Flietram, there is an entry for Thundermug (1973) - Orbit. It uses Rapidshare as opposed to Megaupload. The only problem is that the download is for The Edgar Winter Group with Rick Derringer As this is the ONLY link for this particular rarity on the web, I was wondering if you could correct it and get the Thundermug album linked to instead.
Thanks,
Frustrated PMac
My friends had to change their band name from Thundermug because of these guys. I think they were Poison next, and then some punks stole that name too.
