Re-Upped: Diamond Reo - Dirty Diamonds (1976)
Not much is known about Diamond Reo (not to be confused with country act Diamond Rio) except that this Pittsburgh band (featuring Steel Town legend, Norman Nardini) formed in the early 70's and released three albums before going belly up in 1978. Though they had highly visible tours with Kiss, Ted Nugent, Aerosmith, Kansas and Rush, success eluded them and the band fell into obscurity before the decade came to a close. This is quite amazing considering the strength of the material found on their albums. "Dirty Diamonds", their 2nd album, is quite possibly their finest hour. Considering that each of their releases were recorded for different labels, it is commendable that the band were able to maintain a focused style which never wavered throughout their brief career. A minor cult classic, here it is for your consumption...."Dirty Diamonds".

I was looking through your robotsforronnie webpage and I have a perfect album for you to seek out: "Hard as a Rock" by a band called Teazer. This was their only album; it came out in 1980. The band were from Hawaii and at the time of their album, they were the house band at a nightclub called Dominick's Rock 'n' Roll Clinic in Waikiki. Very few copies of "Hard as a Rock" ever made it to the Mainland and I doubt that it was ever reissued on CD.
You might have heard of a band out of Honolulu called Hawaii who put out two albums in the 1980s: "One Nation Underground" and "The Natives are Restless." Later, their guitar player Marty Friedman would go on to become a member of Megadeth for many years.
One more Hawaiian rock band that I recall putting out an album: Schnazz. (I think that's how it was spelled.) They got local radio airplay with remakes of Frankie Ford's "Sea Cruise" and Tommy James & the Shondells' "I Think We're Alone Now." Jim
